Interim Group Financial Controller / Head of Reporting

A large, complex international technology business is seeking an experienced Interim Group Financial Controller / Head of Reporting to provide senior-level leadership and stability across its Group Finance function following a major corporate separation and transition to private equity ownership.

This is a high-profile assignment within a c.£1bn turnover international group operating across multiple entities, jurisdictions and currencies. The successful candidate will take ownership of key Group controllership and financial reporting activities, ensuring that reporting, audit, technical accounting and financial control continue to operate effectively during an important period of transition.

The role will require someone who can quickly understand a complex organisation, establish priorities and operate with considerable autonomy. You will work closely with the CFO and senior finance leadership, while coordinating finance teams across the wider international business.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading the Group consolidation and financial reporting process across a complex international, multi-entity and multi-currency organisation.
• Taking ownership of Group reporting timetables, responsibilities, governance and delivery, influencing contributors across the business without necessarily having direct line management responsibility.
• Managing external financial reporting, including consolidated IFRS financial statements, disclosures and supporting analysis.
• Leading the relationship with external auditors and managing the end-to-end Group audit process.
• Providing technical accounting leadership across complex IFRS matters and advising senior stakeholders on accounting judgements and commercial transactions.
• Overseeing and strengthening Group accounting policies, controls and reporting governance.
• Preparing high-quality reporting and technical papers for the CFO, senior leadership, auditors and other key stakeholders.
• Providing leadership and support across the wider controllership function during a period of organisational change.
• Identifying pragmatic improvements to reporting processes, systems and controls while ensuring critical reporting deadlines continue to be met.
• Supporting the continued development of the Group Finance operating model following separation and transition to private equity ownership.

The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA or equivalent) with substantial experience leading Group financial reporting and/or controllership within a large, complex international organisation. You will have strong hands-on experience of consolidations, IFRS financial statements, external audit and technical accounting, ideally gained within a listed, PE-backed or similarly sophisticated corporate environment.

Previous experience as a Head of Group Reporting, Group Financial Controller, Group Chief Accountant or equivalent would be particularly relevant. Experience joining businesses during periods of separation, transformation, M&A or significant organisational change would also be highly advantageous.

This is not simply an advisory assignment. The business needs an experienced operator who can get into the detail when required, provide technical credibility and judgement, establish control over competing priorities and ensure that critical reporting deliverables are executed to a high standard.
