Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Business Analyst to join our team in focussing on
consolidating, analysing and visualising data to drive business performance.
Role Summary
There is a wealth of product, financial and customer data which is currently fragmented across
operating systems and partly inaccessible, with an over-reliance on front-end reporting tools. The
Group has successfully implemented structural changes to centralise key business decisionmaking,
and is now investing in the people and tools to consolidate, analyse and visualise data to
drive business performance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining new and existing
reporting tools, turning data into information, information into insight and insight into actionable
business decisions.
Key responsibilities include:
? Day to day management of all financial and commercial reporting, ensuring accuracy of
content and consistency of design across the group.
? Being the first point of contact for user queries, able to assist with manipulation of existing
reports and the creation of new metrics.
? Responding quickly to ad hoc business requests for information, data and insight using the
BI tools.
? Holding overall responsibility for the management of SQL views and stored procedures that
sit behind the reports.
? Pro-actively identify opportunities and make recommendations for improvements.
? Scoping new reports in conjunction with end users.
? Creating new reports through both the formatting of existing data sources, and the
construction and integration of new ones.
? Providing training to user groups.
? Driving effective data led decision making, including the post implementation report of
projects and initiatives.
? Becoming a subject matter expert and advocate of Business Intelligence and Insight within
the company.
? Becoming an advocate of data discipline within the company to ensure continuous
improvement in reporting outputs.
? To operate in a way that ensures you are a recognised role model for the Jockey Club Core
Values and Behaviours.
? To comply at all times with Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices in
accordance with current legislation and as detailed in the Company’s Health & Safety Policy
and Procedures.
? To take personal responsibility for the sustainability of the company by minimising waste of
company resources including gas and electricity, as well as protecting the environment as
described in the company’s Environment Management System.
Skills and experience required, but are not limited to:
? Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a related technical field.
? 5 + years of associated work experience.
? Proven experience of writing SQL and handling large datasets.
? Minimum 2-3 years’ experience of working in SQL, confident in navigating existing views
and stored procedures, and utilising joins, group bys and windowed functions to script new
? Experience of working with Power BI, or similar business intelligence software.
? Strong formal planning and organisational skills.
? Detailed analytical abilities.
? Excellent communicator with an eye for detail and the ability to explain complex logic to
non-technical audiences.
? Highly numerate and excited to work with data, interpreting the numbers and translating
them into actionable items.
? High level of Microsoft Excel skills, adept at writing formulae, manipulating pivot tables and
applying conditional formatting.
? Strong experience in user test and project management. (desirable)
? Experience of computing new variables in DAX. (desirable)
Travel between racecourses and regions may be required so it is essential that the successful
candidate holds a full driving licence and has access to a vehicle.
