A leading, venture capitalist backed, global technology business is recruiting a Group Financial Controller to lead Accounting and Finance. You will report to the CFO and be involved in all parts of the business. The business has recently merged with another similar organisation. This provides opportunity for you to lead improved synergy and efficiency and to drive the business forward. You will ensure financial reporting processes are performed accurately and efficiently as the business continues to grow. It also provides an excellent springboard for a qualified accountant with a blue chip to develop a career in the PE / VC space. Naturally, candidates who have already been working in this kind of environment will be considered.
A significant part of the role will involve stakeholder management e.g. business partnering senior colleagues including the CEO, CFO and COO and working closely with other the commercial finance and other non-finance departments. You will be responsible for understanding how the KPI reports relate to actual financial performance.
You have global overall responsibility for all financial reporting processes and controls; group consolidation; the month end close process; and leading and developing a core accounting team in the UK and a recently established shared service centre, based overseas. You will also have responsibility for Balance Sheet management and driving value through. You will drive continuous improvement and best practice. You also have overall responsibility for finance systems, the audit process, statutory accounts, tax strategy, and liaison with third parties (e.g. auditors / advisors / HMRC).
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant who can demonstrate a strong understanding of a fast growth, multi Country and multiple entity technology business. You will possess the ability to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial processes; lead a team based across two locations; and have great systems and excel skills. You will be inquisitive, proactive, and comfortable working in an unstructured and ambiguous environment where things change. You will possess excellent communication and analytical skills. You will combine a strong attention to detail with the ability to step back and look at the bigger picture.
