Financial Controller

We are currently working with a dynamic and growing small food and beverage company based in London, seeking an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller. This role is critical to overseeing all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, regulatory and financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The Financial Controller will work closely with senior management to drive financial strategy, ensure accurate financial data, and support business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
• Lead budgeting and forecasting processes, providing insightful financial analysis and business performance metrics.
• Manage cash flow, including monitoring liquidity and optimizing working capital.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting standards (UK GAAP, IFRS).
• Develop and maintain financial controls to safeguard company assets.
• Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and banking partners.
• Support senior management in strategic decision-making, providing financial insights for key business initiatives.
• Oversee inventory management processes, analyzing stock levels and cost controls.
• Implement and improve financial systems and processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
• Lead the development and preparation of ad-hoc financial reports as required by the business.

Requirements:

• ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualified (or equivalent).
• Minimum 5 years of experience in a financial management role, preferably within the food and beverage industry or FMCG sector.
• Strong understanding of UK accounting regulations and tax laws.
• Proficient in financial software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, or Xero) and advanced Excel skills.
• Experience in cash flow management, budgeting, and forecasting.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work closely with non-financial stakeholders.
• Hands-on approach with the ability to manage both strategic and operational aspects of the role.
• Experience in a fast-paced SME environment is a plus.
